Seedling update

The APS units worked great!  In about eleven day, I got all but two of the tomato seeds to sprout and several of the peppers have spouted as well.  The tomatoes came in faster than the peppers, so I had to take the greenhouse cover and have temporarily covered the peppers with some plastic wrap to keep the soil moist.  The tomatoes are tall and spindly, so I have added an extra light to my seed station in my office.

On the other-hand, the broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower and squash are coming in like gangbusters.  Thick health seedling are erupting through the soil and in only five, that’s right 5-days!

A tale of two craigs

This year we are going to start our plants from seed.  There are many different techniques used for starting seeds ranging from dropping some soil and the seed into an old yogurt container, to the hi-tech seed propagation systems with heating pads on timers.  I was hoping to land somewhere in the middle.
