Everyone has a bucket list of places to visit or things to do before they leave their terrestrial surroundings. My list is not too elaborate, but experiencing the Northern lights, Aurora Borealis, sits atop that list. With Monday’s Valentine Day solar flare (largest and most powerful one in the past five years), those magical lights crept further south than normal and weather permitting, our neighbors to north should have gotten a show. I don’t think they made it down to Westchester last night….but I will catch up with them soon enough.

Catching an amazing display of the Northern Lights 5 years ago in the Yukon Territory was one of the most awe-inspiring experiences I have had, and I can still vividly remember the dancing sky that night. From my journal of Yukon experiences, “…an ever-changing mix of light and energy. It was simply unbelievable.”…that pretty much sums it up!
